Having grown up during the space race era, I focus on the troubling social history that humans are accustomed to causing on Earth by pairing the optimistic “discovery” of the seven other planets of the Solar System with concurrent appalling events that occurred on our home planet. Our understanding of the universe is limited by anthropocentrism; as we gain more knowledge about the universe in our effort to better control our condition within it, awareness of our vulnerability only grows. This series of drawings is a continuation of preceding works that juxtapose landscapes with disturbing events that occurred in those places.
