The concept of “land” grew out of my rage at how injustices and atrocities continue to be perpetrated across the globe. The visual history of land tends to become invisible over time. Conveying a compelling presence of place is crucially linked to the ongoing battle over land: who has a right to live on it, occupy it, and what can be bled from it. “Land” is not limited to terra firma; it is water, air, our bodies, our communities.
